Our story began during our freshman year of college when we found ourselves living on the same dorm floor. At first glance, we seemed like an unlikely match. She was a California girl—kind, thoughtful, and always by the book. I was a Wyoming man, a little rough around the edges, a social butterfly who has never met a stranger, and much more comfortable coloring outside the lines. Somehow, those differences ended up being exactly what brought us together.
When she first arrived in Wyoming, everything was new. She carried herself with a quiet shyness, stepping into an unfamiliar world with the cautious curiosity of a young deer finding its footing. Meanwhile, I was always eager to meet new people, strike up conversations, and dive headfirst into whatever adventure came next. Looking back, it's funny how two people who seemed so different found each other so naturally.
As the months passed, we kept finding ourselves crossing paths, especially at the local swing dancing bar. What began as casual conversations and shared dances slowly turned into a friendship, and before long, that friendship became love. Somewhere between the music, the laughter, and countless hours spent together, we realized we had found something special.
The first thing that captured my attention was her breathtaking smile. It could light up any room and still does to this day. But what made me fall in love was her endless kindness. She has a remarkable way of caring for others, offering grace when it's needed most, and making people feel seen and valued.
As for her, she says one of her favorite things about me is that I always know my way around the kitchen. Whether it's trying a new recipe or making a favorite meal after a long day, food has become one of the many ways I show my love. She also appreciates that, despite my Wyoming roots, I'm usually willing to curl up on the couch, watch a girly movie with her, and even put on a face mask every now and then. Those little moments have become some of our favorites.
Over the years, we've learned that our differences don't divide us—they make us stronger. She brings calm when I rush ahead. I bring adventure when she hesitates. Together, we've found a balance that neither of us knew we were missing.
From two freshmen living down the hall from one another, to dance partners, best friends, and now future husband and wife, we're grateful for every moment that brought us here. We can't wait to celebrate the next chapter of our story with all of you.
